Skipping Christmas + something that is going through my mind…

Skipping Christmas… Skipping Christmas… No matter how many times I repeat the titel of the novel I am suppose to write about I can’t really find anything to say. Well, I know I have left it a little late, it have to be done by tomorrow morning, but I have tried. Over the past two weeks I have tried to come up with a intressing subject that I can turn into nice reading, but I haven’t got a brillient idea.

I don’t know if that is going to matter so much, in fact, you (Ulf) will have to read like twenty blogs about the same thing so it just might be a little boring in the end. But what if there is about ten other brillient pupils who, like me, don’t know what they are going to write about and they, like me, write about something as pointless as what you are reading now. Then it might not be okay if I don’t write about the novel Skipping Christmas as I am suppose to do. Well, I do like to be on the safe side (and not to make anyone angry) so here is a bit about Skipping Christmas (or rather, what is going throught my mind about Skipping Christmas right now):

It is not one of the most brilliant book I have ever read, but it is not a crappy book. It’s like somewhere in the middle. The story is pretty much about Nora and Luther Krank who decide to skipp Christmas to save money and go on a cruise instead. As expected they meet a lot of resistens from neighbours but they make it to Christmas Eve or Chritmas Day (can’t remember) until their daughter, who is in Peru calls. She suprise the Kranks with the news that she is coming home for Christmas and bringing her fiance.

Well, the story is kind of interessting and the writing is pretty good. But it isn’t a book I will remember. There are book you read once and they like haunt you for a long while. I have just read several (three to be more precise) all by Nicolas Sparks. Have you seen the movies “The Notebook” (with among others Rachel McAdams) and “A walk to remember” (with like Mandy Moore). Well, those great movies are based on novels by Nicholas Sparks. I have manage to borrow “the notebook”, “A walk to remember” and a third book, “Dear John” from the libary on English, but they didn’t have the other book he have written.

I think the best one was “Dear John” and I think they are going to film it in like a year or something. Anyway, Nicholas Sparks is a great author and I truly recomend anyone who loves love stories to read them (all his 15 or so book are love stories). Well, that conclueds my blog. At least not all was rubbish, I managed to write a bit about what I was supposed to write, right? But anyway, hope you enjoyed the reading, I enjoyed writing it and erm, well, that’s it!

Parvana’s Journey – CHAPTER TWENTY & TWENTY-ONE

The yellow packages containes food and hundred of people start fighting for one parsel. But many packages falls on the minefield and despite Parvana’s protests Leila runs out on the minefield to get a package. But this time she is not so luckey. She walks on a mine. Parvana rans out on the field and carries Leila back. She and Asif is watching how Leila shuts her eyes and dies. A woman comes forward and starts asking questions to Parvana and Asif. Parvana recougnise the voise and realises that it’s her mother. Sooner Parvana finds out that all her family is ok apart from her littlebrother Ali who didn’t survive the winter.

The refugee camp is very crowded and overfull. There are many tents and they sett up one themselves. The biggest challenge is all the lines. Parvana has to stay in line to get bread, food ect. The nurse who is taking care about Hassan tells them hundred of people is flooding in a day.

One cold night Parvana and Leila talk about the bombs. Parvana tells Leila the bombs are coming from areoplans and that somebody, the don’t know who, has put them there. Leila misses Grandma and she can’t understand why somebody want to kill her. After walking a couple of days, they are all exaused. They don’t have food or water and Hassan is getting were sloppy and he doesn’t eat anything. They met a family who have a baby like Hassan. The man tells them their baby will die soon and so will Hassan. The family have many children and the man tells Parvana he was a farmer, but the bombs made holes in the land. The man also tells them to keep walking, there is a camp not very far away.

Parvana was concerned about not having a head covering because she was dressed in girls clothes and she was getting old. The Talibans wanted that all “old” girls should have her head covered.

In the begining of the chapter Asif tells Parvana that the food is starting to run out. But one day they heard a explotion from the minefield and it turns out that a goat has been blown up. Leila and Parvana got the goat and the same night they enjoyed a wonderful meal. The bombs were getting lowder and suddenly a bomb fell right beside Green Valley. Parvana and Asif took Hassan and Leila outside in the clearing and the next bomb hits the house. Suddenly the house was gone, Grandma was gone, Green Valley was gone…

Slowly, the lives in Green Valley is going back to normal, or as normal it can be. Parvana starts teaching Grandma and Leila to write and read and Parvana finds out that Grandma always wanted a own book, so she gives one of her book to Grandma. They get healthier, Asif stopps coughing, Hassan grew stronger and Leila’s face is better. But they do se the war. Leila is often sitting and watching after Parvana and Leila’s mother and one day she sees a couple of tanks…

The three children tries to make Leila’s home a better place to live, they buried the animal caracasses and maked mouse-safe boxes. And Hassan startes to crawl. One day he almost crawls out on the minefield so they bind a long rope around his waist so he can’t crawl away.

Parvana’s Journey – Chapter TWELVE

As I wrote in “Chapter ELEVEN” Leila gets most of her supplies from the minefield. I think Parvana decides to make Leila’s home Green Valley because it’s a bit isoleted from other people and they are just childen (and grandma of course) and it could be a quiet nice place.

Leila lives in a mud shack near the mine field with her grandmother. Leila gets food by going out in the mine field and collect things when somebody gets blown up. Before eating, Leila takes a little of her food and burieds it in the earth. She says that will protect her from the mines.
